James A. Carbone, President and Co-Founder
Jim Carbone is a respected NABCEP-certified installer and engineer whose strong technical, operational, and executive management background enable him to lead the Company’s strategic direction and ensure that our customers are delivered solutions that exceed their expectations. Jim brings more than 25 years of management experience in engineering, manufacturing, and high-technology fields.
Most recently, Jim held the position of COO of GeoGenix, LLC, a NJ-based photovoltaic systems integrator. In this position, he was responsible for project management, system design, scheduling, materials sourcing, coordination of sub-contractors, quality, and installation. Prior to that, Jim was Vice President of Operations for a global OEM that supplies extrusion systems to the wire & cable and optical fiber industries. He was responsible for the management of engineering, manufacturing, quality, warehouse/shipping, and all facilities.
Jim was one of the first NABCEP-certified photovoltaic installers on the East Coast and has had a substantial influence in the widespread development of solar in New Jersey.
He has personally managed the installation of over 15MW of solar capacity.
Jim is a graduate of Lehigh University with a bachelor’s of science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a graduate of Seton Hall University where he earned a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in Finance.
Peter M. Ramsey, EVP and Co-Founder
Pete Ramsey is Executive Vice President of ECS Energy, Ltd., which he co-founded in 2007. Pete oversees the Company’s business development of renewable energy systems. He is responsible for new market development and strategic relationships with financiers, supply sources, developers, and customers.
Pete brings more than 25 years of management experience in engineering, supply chain, technical services, business development, sales, and marketing. Most recently, Pete held the position of Director of Business Development for GeoGenix, LLC, a NJ-based photovoltaic systems integrator. In this position he led the Company’s marketing efforts, directed the sales team, and developed commercial projects.
Prior to joining the renewable energy industry, Pete worked in the wire and cable industry where he held executive positions for a global OEM. His strategic vision and expertise enabled the company to introduce new products and technologies into the Asian markets that not only increased revenues and profits but also led to joint venture manufacturing
Pete is a graduate of Lafayette College with a bachelor’s of science degree in Chemical Engineering and a graduate of Seton Hall University where he earned an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Marketing.
Christine Sandoval, President and Owner of ECS Energy, LLC.
Christine Sandoval leads ECS Energy, LLC, a partner company to ECS Energy, Ltd., and works with our clients in the federal sector. ECS Energy, LLC is Woman-Service Disabled-Veteran owned company headquartered in Maryland.
Christine is a decorated United States Army Officer who has over 30 years of leadership, strategy, and project management experience. She is a subject matter expert in National Security and Intelligence and has served the United States Army on nearly every continent.
Most recently, she worked as a Lead Associate for Booz Allen Hamilton where she led support for information sharing, cyber security, and intelligence consulting and implementation operations for several federal agencies. While in the Army, Christine taught at the U. S. Military Academy, West Point, and served as Chief of Staff for the Army’s Cryptologic Operations Directorate.Prior to her Army career, she worked as a Land Use Planner at Wilcox, Gravatt, and Van Sant, a civil engineering consulting firm, and as a systems analyst at RCA- David Sarnoff Research Center in Princeton, NJ.
Christine has received numerous awards to include the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star for her military service. She holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Bridgeport (CT), a Master in Public Administration from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, a Master of City and Regional Planning from Rutgers, and is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College.
David Cobb, Vice President, Finance
David Cobb is an experienced financial executive specializing in structured finance, risk management and valuations. Mr. Cobb’s responsibilities at ECS Energy include setting up special purpose vehicles (SPVs) and proformas for the third party financing of solar projects. He also assists in the subscription of debt and equity placement into these SPVs.
David currently also serves as a Consultant in Risk Management and Valuations for Syncora Holdings LTD. where he is responsible for risk analysis, reporting and transaction valuations. He is also responsible for developing and executing risk mitigation strategies related to the company’s financial guaranty, credit derivative and investment portfolios.
Prior to Syncora Holdings LTD, David was the Managing Director for Structured Credit Products and Investments at Babson Capital Management LLC, a Member of the MassMutual Financial Group. His extensive career in finance includes executive positions at Chubb Financial Solutions, Deutsche Bank Securities, Fitch Ratings, Ambac Indemnity Corporation, and Standard & Poor’s.
Mr. Cobb holds a BS in Finance from Lehigh University and an MBA from Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
Gerry Lax, Designer and Director of Engineering
Gerry Lax is Designer and Director of Engineering at ECS Energy, Ltd. He is responsible for solar engineering design and equipment selection for all ECS projects. Gerry was certified by NABCEP in 2008 and is a respected leader in the field of solar engineering design with over 30 years of industry experience.
Most recently, Gerry served as Senior Designer and Project Manager at groSolar, a leading national solar EPC company. Prior to joining groSolar, he worked for Advanced Solar Products, where he was responsible for commercial design, project management, and procurement for public and private projects ranging in size from 50 kW up to 2.5 MW PV systems. These projects include: 35 public schools across 11 school districts totaling over 6.8 MW, 8 systems for three utility districts totaling over 1.2 MW, 3 systems for the US Army at Ft. Dix totaling over 1.4 MW, and 2 systems for the NJ National Guard totaling 330 kW. Gerry has also held industry positions at The Solar Center, Occidental Power, and GeoGenix. In total, Gerry has designed and/or managed more than 20 MW of distributed generation solar projects nationally.
Gerry holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in Architecture and Engineering from Swarthmore College.
Myles Burnsed, Director of Business Development
Myles Burnsed is responsible for strategy, product, and project development. His focus includes new markets, incentive and financial optimization, engineering optimization, and financier relationships.
Most recently, Myles served as Vice President of Operations at HelioSage, a Virginia based developer of solar projects, where he was responsible for managing the firm’s projects starting at late stage development through installation and commissioning. In this role he was responsible for technology selection, system pricing, engineering and financial optimization, and management of HelioSage’s Operations team through all facets of project management. He is a respected industry leader with over 10+ MW of solar development experience and is responsible for the development some of the most technically advanced solar installations in the nation.
Myles draws on a deep and diverse engineering background which is complemented by experience in finance and risk management. Prior to joining HelioSage, Myles was a Senior Consultant Engineer at FM Global, a worldwide leader in commercial and industrial property insurance. At FM Global, Myles assisted clients in identifying and solving risk management challenges at facilities valued at up to $1.5 billion, and gained an extensive knowledge of business operations and production processes across a wide range of industries.
Myles holds a BS in Chemical Engineering with High Distinction from the University of Virginia where he was elected a member of Tau Beta Pi and an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration where he received the Faculty Award for Academic Excellence.
Bruce Neely, Senior Energy Consultant
Bruce Neely is an experienced solar energy developer. At ECS Energy, Bruce works with clients to help determine their energy needs and possible solutions for onsite generation and energy savings. He also manages all incentive and interconnection applications and filings.
Jeffrey Heaton, General Counsel
Prior to joining ECS Energy, Bruce worked as a Senior Contract Administrator for Solar Bridge, LLC where he coordinated all contractor activities for solar project construction and was responsible for the filing of incentive and interconnection application packages. Previously, Bruce was Regional Manager for American Energy Technologies, Inc. where he identified and developed prospective purchasers of solar systems across the New Jersey solar market.
Mr. Neely holds a BA in Sociology from Ramapo College where he was the recipient of the Fred & Florence Thomases Academic Scholarship.
Jeffrey Heaton is an experienced General Counsel well versed in contracts, transactions, and public relations. As General Counsel for ECS Energy, Mr. Heaton is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and advising on all business contracts.
He is also responsible for representing the company’s best interests in working with third parties who are financing projects through power purchase agreements or other finance solutions. Jeff brings over 25 years of board level executive management and legal experience, having served as Vice President and General Counsel for a healthcare company with over 30 corporate entities in four states. He brings a broad array of legal and finance experience to ECS Energy, especially in the areas of structured finance, leasing, and development and negotiation of commercial contracts.
Jeffrey holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from Lehigh University, an MBA from Seton Hall University, and a J.D. degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.
