(Yonkers) April 3, 2013 – Central Avenue Nissan is proud to announce that they have gone green in a big way. In an effort to do their part to preserve our planet, a solar photovoltaic system has been installed on the roof of the building. The new system is the largest roof top solar system in Yonkers. The use of this system, instead of being 100% reliant on traditional power sources, cuts Central Avenue’s carbon footprint, helps to reduce costs, helps the environment and serves as an example to other businesses in the area of the role they should play in protecting our very existence. The state of the art new system reduces production of 270,000 pounds of CO2 emissions per year. That is the equivalent to planting 90 acres of trees!

Best known for putting people in the best quality vehicles, making great deals, providing superior customer service, Central Avenue Nissan is now taking it a step further and helping to make sure the world we live in is a better place. The new solar system was engineered and installed by ECS Energy Ltd. This 152-kilowatt rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system will offset approximately 35% of Central Avenue Nissan’s electricity usage. With the life of the system being 25 plus years, the environment will enjoy the benefits for years to come.

This is a major step forward for the community and the environment at the same time. Illustrating that fact, the Mayor of Yonkers, Mike Spano will be onsite for a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 3rd at 1:00pm. The Mayor’s office is hopeful that Central Avenue Nissan’s decision to use clean energy will help to educate customers and the community about the benefits of solar. This is a significant event in Yonkers and Central Avenue Nissan would like to invite the entire community to come down and celebrate this wonderful occasion. Please join Central Avenue Nissan and the Mayor for the ceremony.

“I am very happy with our decision of having ECS Energy install the system. They did an excellent job and met our tight deadlines. I hope our decision influences other businesses in the area to follow in our footsteps,” said Mark Brennan, Dealer Principal. “We are trying to do what is right for our environment and doing our part to protect as many future generations as possible. Using clean solar power will help cut greenhouse gases and reduce the strain on the power grid during peak hours.”

Pete Ramsey, Executive Vice President of ECS Energy, Ltd., stated “We applaud Central Avenue Nissan’s decision to go solar and be a leader in their community. We hope other businesses are inspired by their example of being able to achieve environmental goals while also making smart financial decisions.”
